Meet Maizie (20220117-03)
Maizie is one of a kind. She loves her humans. She will want to shower you with kisses and likes belly rubs in return. She is learning about personal space but after all , she is still a puppy being only a year old. And she couldn’t be more excited to be able to call somewhere home. Maizie and her siblings were abandoned at a sawmill in Texas when they were young. She’s still learning all about the world and is very curious about squirrels, birds and cars. She doesn’t chase them, but she loves to stare when we go for walks. She is learning how to walk on her leash, but she is very smart and I believe she will catch on quick. She sleeps soundly in her crate at night and I’ve never heard her bark. She would do best in a home that loves kisses.
Foster Update: July 5, 2022: Maizie is doing really well, and starting to come out of her shell. She is really good with other dogs - even ones much larger than her like my Shepherd and Lab. She just wants to play with them, although she goes into submissive mode at first with tail between her legs when she first meets a new dog. She seems pretty gentle, but does have a puppy energy at times. She is fearful of new things and new people, so could be a potential flight risk if outside on a walk. We are building her confidence with walks, and we have made it a few houses but once something spooks her she runs home. However, she loves her people and tends to stick to them like velcro.
loves kids, but has high puppy energy so perhaps older children.
Has met the resident cat who hissed at Maizie , swatted Maizie and Maizie ran away
Kennel trained. She is super smart and this would not take long for her to catch on.
Maizie is in a kennel and is used to being confined to a space. Crate training would be easy.
as she is fearful of new things and people
In training is doing well with a harness.
Not necessary but could help with energy level.
